Good Evening folks,
I've pulled this old dc motor from a 60's G.I. Joe 5 Star Jeep. I've tried Google Lens and several other internet searches trying to find the proper terminology for the "brushes/copper prongs" in the gasket which go over the commutator shaft. At this point, I'm not even sure they are "a thing" anymore. Thanks for any input.

Sounds/looks like a common universal motor, check to see if the brushes are in series with the stator windings.
If so, still a very commonly used format.

Thank you Max,
I am actually in need of a new set of brushes. Do you know precisely what they're called. I've searched for hobby/toy dc motor "copper spade brushes", "metal spade connectors"(very wrong)...etc.

Can you show a pic of what the brushes look like?
Or is that them shown removed in the pic?
You may have to fabricate some carbon ones made for a common vacuum cleaner motor etc

1758379868930.png ...so, here is probably a more useful image. The 2 wire leads are soldered (on top of the red gasket) to the 2 "brushes" (basically thin copper strips), which pass through the gasket (placed on the outter motor casing) to the commutator on the motor shaft. The distance between the "brushes" essentially determines the proper contact, as they somewhat pinch the commutator. What is, if any, the proper terminology for the setup of this assembly? Google Lens is convinced it's a J connector which clearly it is not. I'd like to purchase one instead of fabricating a new one. Thanks for the input Max.

Unusual to see those kind, probably copper-plated tungsten?
What is wrong with the existing?
May have to fabricate some if neccessary!?

Circa '64-'65, G.I. Joe 5 Star Jeep, so yeah it's dated. The "brush assembly" pictured does not actually go to the dc motor from the jeep, it is from a different old motorized toy. Problem: The copper strip "brushes" just are not long enough to make proper contact with the motors commutator. I'm going to look for something similar
on a couple vintage toy train motor sites perhaps...before I fabricate them myself :/
Thanks for all the input Max. Have a great weekend.
