For the first question, should both voltages be 120V?

The first question has no definite answer because it is not indicated what the voltage at Node A is referred to. There needs to be some indication of which node is the common reference node. It is probably the negative terminal of the battery, but it certainly doesn't have to be. Assuming this to be the case, the voltage at Node A is not 120 V in either case. Without seeing your work, it is impossible to tell where you might be going wrong in your analysis.
