I don't think you considered the fact that the diode will only be conducting for the very small time (As Max points out.) that it takes for the motor reverse of the micro switch. Once the limit switch closes again there will be no diodes in circuit. I don't think a reduction in speed of maybe 10% for probably less than 100 mS will even be noticed.
George, If you really do want to use schottky diodes then a 1N5817 should be OK.

You can use a rectifier bridge as a good cheap high current dual diode for this application. The common cathode connection is the "+" and the switches are from that one to each "AC" pin. No connection to the "-" pin.
Power bridges with a mounting hole make it easy to attatch to a case too.
