Does this indicate that you do not have a earth grounded service supply?
You cannot use a door frame for earth GND.
So far I do not see where the OP is located?
The fact that a house does not have a separate conductor dedicated exclusively to the "safety ground" means nothing except they do not live near Max. I have seen villages in rural Mexico that had only two wire service. One side was tied to "ground" at the generator. (local generator)

My whole village of nearly 200 houses is wired with only two conductors, except in the rare cases of the people having house built gave some thought to grounding.
Evidently what I saw is not an only instance, unless by same unimaginable coincidence DC lives in that part of Mexico, which is not likely at all.

A long time before I retired my boss and I would sit around and talk about retiring in Mexico, but a decade later I retired to a developing country in S.E. Asia.
