Hi guys hope you ok on this difficult time.
my son brought me a Laptop Toshiba Satellite L355D Amd Turion 64x2 TLco 2.ghz ,3Ghz ram 32bit with vista installed, but it's sluggish and might have virus and lack of updates,in the end doesn't work right,no updates no assistance from Microsoft.
i tried to install XUbuntu 18.04 from a CD,it downloads right and after download it starts to install but some time after it goes blank and hangs in there ,it wont install, i restart and it asks for a boot cd , anything that i can do different?thanks.

A failure to boot a new install of Ubuntu is usually a video driver mismatch (or an inability of the open-source nouveau driver to deal with an idiosyncrasy of your particular graphics hardware).

Search Google on how to change your video driver from the command line. This should resolve your problem.

Hello,

It looks like the turion is not mentioned in this:

64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image
Choose this if you have a computer based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the i386 images instead. Choose this if you are at all unsure.

You might try an other distribution, like opensuse.
I am using the tumbleweed version on my home PC:

That is just windows showing you have 32 bit Windows Operating System installed. That does not show what processor bit level it is, whether 32 bit or 64 bit. You can only find out if the processor is 64 bit by looking up the CPU specifications.
All 64 bit processors can run 32 bit operating systems....

EDIT: Definitely a 64 bit processor:

A 64 bit Linux not installing properly may be related to your video system. Often AMD video causes hangs on some Linux installations. Check their forums, there is probably a command line you can use to install generic video instead of trying to detect...
