heating my gloves

I work outdoors, it's very cold some days, and my gloves don't keep the heat in my fingers, I've tried those heat packs, but they do nothing for my fingers, I tried wiring up some coils, but I haven't been successful in making something that I can use for at least 6 hours on the job. Do you guys have any ideas for what I could use/make? Thanks a lot for any ideas.

Thanks,
Dustin

An important non-electrical part of any heating system is the insulation! The better the insulation, the less power required to maintain a given thermal gradient across said insulation. Insulation may be improved by making it thicker (not always practical) or by using a material with lower thermal conductivity.

Find a farrier supply house or blacksmithing supply house and order some knit kevlar gloves. They won't be cheap. They will have very low thermal conductivity.

Air is a very good insulator.

I ride a motorcycle in Winter; Your glove size is critical, try and maintain a small air gap between your finger tips and glove tips. (10 mm)
