Don't really know if this is the right place but please point me in the right direction if it's not.

I bought a 12v mini angle grinder last week and it worked and charged fine until this morning when it smelt of smoke and didn't show the usual red lights.

I opened it up which was surprisingly simple, it pretty much pulled apart with no screws or fixings.

It was immediately clear where the issue was but would like to know if it's repairable and actually worth repairing. Also would need to know what I need to repair if it is indeed worth it.

Return if possible for a refund and buy a better quality grinder next time. Seems like a dangerous item to have in the household even if it was economical to repair.

Even if you knew what the fried chip was and replaced it the fried chip fried for a reason and is likely only a symptom. I would just, as suggested, replace it as in the shole unit.
