In the passing of my brother our family has been faced with the decision of giving my brother's electronics trove away to someone who can pick them up on Monday June 29th, 2026 or latest Tuesday June 30th, 2026 from his residence in Asheville, NC. Pleased to give his entire stock of electronics to anyone willing to come pick them up. Please contact me at <Mod: deleted email address> asap! You will need to place "Eric's giving" in the subject column for me to know it's OK to open your inquiry.
Thank you

Oh Wow!! I had not considered "estate distribution" as a possibility on this forum. I suggest that the moderators and site owner consider some possible choices.
At some unknown future time MY estate would be available, and certainly distrubution is better than dumping it all in a scrap landfill. Geographicly, "48067" zip code. Hopefully that is not too specific to be a problem for the moderators.
My wife has reminded me that the day after I am gone it will all be hauled to a scrapyard/landfill by a crew unqualified to understand any item's value. And a month after it is gone, others will explain to her the immediate cash value of what was dumped.

I collected several boxes of components and modules under similar circumstances a couple of years ago.
A women's dad had passed and she needed to clean out his apartment.
Now I have twice as much electronic stuff.

There have been a number of threads started by people wanting to part with electronics-related items for any number of reasons. Moving, retiring, estate disposition are probably the big three.

In the Ham Radio realm, there are companies that handle estates. Evaluation, equipment appraisal, removal, and sale for a typical 30% commission. Even tower takedowns... Might be worth looking into for electronics benches as well.

Same here, and I suspect that this is true for many of the geezers around here. My wife is dreading the day she might have to deal with my stuff.

I hope the TS found someone that could help them. I'm both sad and glad that I don't live close enough to have done something.

I used to take some solace that, after I'm gone, my wife could get some income from selling off my stuff. But as more of my friends have passed and I've seen their families have to deal with their junk, I've realized that the general outcome is either the stuff sitting around for years (decades) gathering dust or just trying to find someone that will make it disappear (which where some of my junk has come from). They've often had to resort to paying someone to come in and haul it off, which is the opposite of what I want to happen. This is part of the reason that I'm trying to get rid of as much stuff as I can right now, though neither the only nor the primary reason.

Started to think that I should start considering this seriously quite soon.

Much of the cause for an accumulation of "stuff" being considered as "worthless junk" is due to the folks seeing it not understanding what it is. Even a Master Mechanic's toolbox looks like junk to the individuals who have no clue as to what the use of the tools would be. Even Stocks and Bonds appear to have no worth to those with no clue.
Often, "Value is in the view of the beholder." and that requires both knowledge and understanding.
