Hello. I've wired a sega dreamcast controller to some arcade buttons for my homemade arcade machine. However, the controller has been acting up recently. the direction buttons keep turning on without being touched for no reason. They keep turning on randomly and the characters on screen start moving randomly. I checked all the connections and I made sure everything is connected properly, but the problem still persists. Does anyone know what might be the problem? Thanks.

If it takes a minute or two to start happening, I'm guessing you have a floating input. Did you use pull up (or pull down) resistors on all of the logic inputs?

Post a schematic.

I don't know what pull up or pull down resistors are, but it does it take some time for it to start happening. Most of the time just a few seconds. It's a third party dreamcast controller so I don't the schematics sorry. I connected two wires to each button on the circuit, one to each circuit connector on the board.
