It took a while to figure out that the guy waving at me was actually me in a mirror. The beginning of a genre of games I have always referred to as "Hack and Slash" games. Kill the MOBs, collect their loot, sell the loot, buy better equipment, ad infinitum.

I was the CETS (Contract Engineering Technical Support ) for the UYK-62 computer system on the west coast. I certified the computer system was operational to specifications after the install at the navy shipyard. We had a custom set of diagnostic/milestone programs to run before the official software was loaded. If the ships company was nice (small party and drinks during the trip) an extra tape would be loaded containing Colossal Cave Adventure and a few other text based games for the crew.
