You can use a frequency counter or an oscilloscope, but an FM radio next to the circuit is the first thing to try.

I am using copper wire I got from Lowe's. I am pretty sure it is not magnet wire.
Will this work without magnet wire?

Also, if I were using magnet wire how do I know what frequency signal I am sending so I know what station to try?
