Interesting. My first thought was, "It's a birthday present, no justification necessary." What application do you have in mind?

It is SO COOL, but that dog won't hunt for me.

I currently rent and the old pier and beam house is practically uninsulated and has at least one outlet I know of that gets warm if the room light and ceiling fan are left running.
I'll either find a problem connection and get it fixed or maybe become so frightened at the condition of the house that I move out. :)

temp range limits its usage quite a bit..
32 °F - 212 °F
Not really viable for electronics inspection,etc..
Too bad it doesn't go to 150C or so..

I don't think military grade operations ranges are needed for a consumer electronics priced device.
It was the low price that got me interested in the first place.
