You would face all United Nations countries, but why would you go to war with Canada :)
I wouldn't. It was a hypothetical scenario to support my point; that Canada and britain were almost the same thing back then and still are loosely affilliated (outside of UN, NATO, etc) today. I was trying to say that the people who burnt the whitehouse were the people who are presently Canadian (their ancestors anyways).

It's also noteworthy that the burning occurred in 1814, 2 years after Canada became an entity.

for what it's worth, a quote from Wikipedia:
On August 24, 1814, a British and Canadian force occupied Washington, D.C. and set fire to many public buildings following the American defeat at the Battle of Bladensburg. The facilities of the U.S. government, including the White House

Well I learned something new today... thanks. now let's get back to talking about the shuttle or we could talk about the F35's which also will be partly built here. :)

Nothing much left to talk about; they're scrapping the program apparently. I wonder if they will dismantle the shuttle. They could recoup some of their "losses" if they auctioned off pieces of the shuttle on Ebay. I'm sure lots of people would want to own a piece of history and something that's been to outer space and back.

I really hate to see it go; It's all amazing stuff, but I wonder if the research they do is all worth it? What did we gain from all the space visits (inform me again; I'm out of the loop) from the 60's until now? I got to see what a butane lighter flame looks like in zero gravity on youtube (however I think that was filmed in a plane) and we got lots of pretty pictures from new perspectives. I know they did research on plant growth and medicine research in zero gravity which couldn't be done on earth, but did they find the cure for anything out there?

All the shuttles are already spoken for, they will spend about 6 months or so decommissioning them for static display.

I don't know exactly anything that was cured with space research, but in the big scheme of things, there really is only one way to transform our species from an earth bound one, to a space exploring one.

Most certainly the understanding of the universe and our planet is much better including the research done in space.
