MIT will once again require applicants to take the SAT or ACT, bucking anti-test movement
He also argued that MIT's research shows that standardized testing helps to accurately predict student success at MIT, particularly in math. He noted that this could be because the university requires students to take calculus and calculus-based physics.
"The substance and pace of these courses are both very demanding, and they culminate in long, challenging final exams that students must pass to proceed with their education," he wrote. "In other words, there is no path through MIT that does not rest on a rigorous foundation in mathematics, and we need to be sure our students are ready for that as soon as they arrive."

There are few ideas out there that (in my mind) are as idiotic as the "do not test" movement in academics. I am glad that common sense is beginning to prevail at last...

I mean, imagine a doctor who's about to perform heart surgery on you tell you that he refused to be evaluated because he considered said practice as being discriminatory, or established by the "bigoted privileged elite" ...

I think I played a small part in helping electrical engineers with their final electronic projects assigned by professors, only because the curriculum was so rigorous, me stepping in(for a price of course) gave them time to study for the final exams. It borderline plagiarism. But then I found out the professors themselves had a side jobs consulting ,and would give their students as their final projects , to come up with a solution that the professor themselves were getting paid for to resolve. I got busted because the seniors would sell my circuits to the Juniors. To this day I'm not allowed on the campus of Stanford University. They say my picture is still on the wall of of the campus security police.

A story I just read… “I just went to buy a Samsung washer and dryer from a guy, and he was asking $500. I told him I just had a kid and if he could take $400, I’d be really grateful.

I got home, hooked everything up, and everything worked great. I opened up the dryer to check the lint filter and I was shocked my $400 was sitting in there. I got a message from him saying, 'Check the dryer. A gift for the new baby.'

Man, words can't describe how grateful I am right now. I feel so blessed; I felt I had to share. Big shout out to this man! Thank you so much!"

‘We’re fed up with scary dreams’: thieves return temple treasures in India
A gang of thieves have returned more than a dozen idols they stole from an ancient Hindu temple in India, saying they had been haunted by nightmares since the crime, according to police.

Last week, the group stole 16 statues from a 300-year-old temple to Lord Balaji – an incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu – in Uttar Pradesh, police inspector Rajiv Singh told Agence France-Presse.

On Monday night, they left 14 of them near the house of the temple’s chief priest in Chitrakoot district, he said.
