I was going to post this story in the "Thought for the day" thread, but this is such a great read that I felt this thread is a better fit:

"I saw young children that I've never seen before - that were to become my children, I guess. And the one thing that really stuck in my mind was me standing up and playing an instrument. I just thought, 'This is the weirdest feeling in my entire life.'

"And then that was it, I completely blacked out."

‘For me, the war is over’: Veteran meets daughter he left behind in Vietnam 50 years ago
Similar to a recent one where a young American girl knew her deceased mother was adopted as a child, and was curious as to who her natural grandparents were, in order to search, she took a DNA test, but it yielded a surprise, she got an answer back from the report that she had a Vietnamese sister!
Her father had served there and had a local girl friend, but left to return to the US before he found out she was pregnant with his baby! He never knew !
The Vietnamese daughter applied for US citizenship and was united with them both.

Having defended his thesis and currently working on publishing it, Steiner wants to continue research in the domain to keep his brain sharp. Steiner does not regret the time he spent doing medicine but becoming a physicist was his childhood dream and he is "on top of the world" now that he has achieved it. For others, he has the same message, "If you have a dream, follow it."

A tourist in Las Vegas hit the jackpot on a slot machine last month, but he was never informed due to a malfunction in the machine, according to gaming officials.

Now after an exhaustive search, the Nevada Gaming Control Board says they have identified the winner of the nearly $230,000 prize.

On January 8, a man, later identified by officials as Robert Taylor, played a slot machine at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. Due to a communications error, according to gaming officials, the slot machine malfunctioned and didn't notify Taylor or casino personnel that he was a winner.

By the time the error was noticed, casino personnel were unable to identify the man, who was from out of state. The gaming board took on an exhaustive search to make sure the man would be awarded his prize.
