Pubs and restaurants could soon be fined for serving well-done items such as triple-cooked chips or thin and crispy pizza under a second phase of the Government's crackdown on burnt food.

Following the launch of a major public awareness campaign yesterday to help people reduce "cancer-causing" acrylamide in food, the Daily Telegraph can reveal that food safety watchdogs are planning to extend the warning to every food-serving business in Britain.

Under a new European Union food hygiene directive, due to be adopted in the UK by the the end of 2017, pubs and restaurants will be told to take reasonable steps to reduce acrylamide in food or face enforcement measures.
...
The move is being planned despite scientists accusing the Government of “massively overreacting” as there is no scientific proof of a link between acrylamide consumption and cancer in humans.

The FSA's advice is based on experiments on mice, rather than any studies showing that acrylamide causes cancer in people.

The new rules are also likely to be hit with a backlash from the catering industry as the British Beer and Pub Association said it would resist attempts by the FSA to become a "chip fat controller".

Sounds like a very European thing to do, not missing even the smallest chance to interfere in lives and businesses.
Almost like US republicans interference up until the Obama administration. They were all concerned with who marries who, promoting conversion therapy for homosexuality, well, I guess they are still concerned which bathroom people use so they are not quite done yet.

I'm sorry, but that's -just- AMAZING. This is not, even, old cooking grease - which should've been thrown out - but, purposefully "triple-cooking" something?! What. The. Hell. Omg. o.0

^^ "The guide will include [..]", ugh - WHAT guide - when, where can we get it?! That thing needs to be made available in digital format (scanned, whatever?), as soon as possible - right?? Ah, IDK. =)

Which Belgrade are you from? One of the many in the US or the original (or one outside the US)?

Ok, back to something interesting. A date has been set, but, since no strategy is in place - the U.K. is paralyzed and doesn’t know how to answer even the most basic questions of how a post-brexit UK will function. Negotiations with the EU seem to be gridlocked.

This demonstrates the problems caused when a leadership team has no core goals/beliefs and they simply try to please the most people they can with each decision. They end up paralyzed with everyone unhappy.

The burnt chips story is yet another one in a long list of fabrications we have come to expect from certain UK tabloids since the inception of the EU.

Gopher, interesting article about a self tuning piano device.... (looks like it'll consume huge amounts of current to keep it tuned, though) .... but what does it have to do with Brexit?

A cut-and-paste error from a previous post. Apparently the gods didn’t want the political influence of the actual link so they replicated a link I posted in another thread here. Who knows.

Just imagine the link had an article abliut Theresa May not being effective and unable to lead because she doesn’t know where she is going so nobody is following.

hi,
The problem is that the UK is a democracy and our Govt is trying to please everybody, which is close to impossible, because as individuals we all have our own agenda.
Personally I do not mind about the delay and heated discussions about the Brexit deal, the final aim is to get the deal that satisfies the majority and is good for the UK.

I guess we all know that democratic Countries teeter on the brink of Anarchy, thats what Democracy means, freedom of choice and speech for everyone.
