Ethernet Cable question: Does ANYONE know the answer to this? (Ethernet)

They look like a Krone blade (angled) rather than the 110 style. Here's https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Punch-Krone-Blade-TC-PDT/dp/B0000AZK4D a tool that does both.

Wiring really isn't that bad. You need a punch down tool and you need to know if it's wired 568A or 568B.
You keep the wires paired and tight to the IDC (Insulation displacement connector). You punch the wires down, put on the cover and your almost done. Continuity testing helps.

You DO NOT remove the insulation from the wires. A CAT5/6 cable stripper helps remove the jacket from the cable without nicking the wires.

These https://www.walmart.com/ip/Insten-C...61991&wl11=online&wl12=34080590&wl13=&veh=sem are so cheap

You would need two RJ45 to RJ45 short straight-thru cables to test your connections as well.

The cable from the switch to the structured wiring panel would also be straight and so would the computer to wall cable.

Gigabit uses all 8 conductors. I won't get into POE or (Power over Ethernet). 8 conductors makes that easy too.

CAT5E cable will work for all ethernet speeds up to gigabit (for runs approaching maximum length, CAT6 may be better, but I've used CAT5E at lengths up to about 100 feet, 30 metres, for gigabit without any problem for many years).

All you need to do is change the jack and plug in some patch cables and you are away. You can probably find a suitable jack at a home improvement store, computer store, etc. The jack you have looks like a snap-in type - you just push down on a little tab on the end just behind the cover for the box and it will pop out. You would need a compatible type, and you can probably find ones that either include a plastic "punch down" tool or just a press-on cover that pushes the wires into the terminals.
Hi
You can use CAT5E for gigabit Ethernet up to 100 meters. No problems. That is its purpose in life. ;)
Been doing in for years...no problem.

I have CAT5E running gigabit Ethernet to 2 wifi routers works great I get 300 mb/s on both which keeps my kids happy they can cast on 4 tv without any slow down but with just one wifi rounter it bottle necked and you couldn't cast 4.

2 iphones to ipads and 2 tv on there wifi and I now have my 3 computers 1 phone and cast a tv on mine it works great.

I just had a look at the powerline thing but I am not quite sure how it helps me with what i am trying to achieve
Hi

The powerline adapter uses the AC electrical wiring in your house to transmit the network signals.
You would buy two adapters, one for the router, and one for the bedroom, and would need to make sure there are AC outlets at each of the two locations. Each Powerline adapter has a plug that would plug into the AC outlet and also an Ethernet Jack for connecting to your computer.

Basically, my problem is that my internet connection is VERY slow using WiFi, so I am trying to connect it using ethernet cable. However, my room is simply too far from my utilities room (where my router is located) to stretch a long wire all the way from there to my room. I have attached 2 pictures but I am not sure if other users can see them. The first picture is of my utilities room (Pic 1-utilities box). As you can see in the picture, there is a various ethernet sockets which can all be connected to different bedrooms in my house, they are all labeled "bed1" , "bed2, "bed3" etc. Now if you look at my second picture of my bedroom (pic2 - my bedroom) you can see i have a wall socket which has an ariel socket and a phone line socket next to it.

I am trying to plug my internet router to the utilities box via ethernet cable directly inside the ethernet socket labeled "bed2" (on utilities box) because that is my bedroom. Then from my bedroom, I want to plug a wire inside the phone socket from one end, and the other end of the wire I want to plug at the back of my pc or laptop through an ethernet socket. In this way, I hope to achieve a wired connection directly from my router to my bedroom PC/Laptop.
The problem is I cannot find a wire which has 1 end as an ethernet cable and the other end which fits a phone line socket.

Is there ANY POSSIBLE way I can do this? I have been trying to figure this out for months but I hardly know anything about any of this stuff. I am so stuck and my internet speed over wifi is terrible. I need a wired connection so bad...
Go to the Utility Room and connect an ethernet patch cable between the router and the data socket 'Bed 2' that feeds your room. The photo you posted of the patch panel there shows a yellow ethernet cable from 'Bed 1' presumably to the router. (You need to do likewise). In your bedroom you will need a 2nd ethernet cable to connect the RJ45 wall socket to your PC. You need to pull down the flap on the wall socket in your room and check it has 8 pins. This will confirm it is indeed RJ45 and will connect with standard ethernet patch cables.

BUT... from what you told us in later replies it is highly likely that your PC itself is the reason for slow internet rather than slow WiFi. It's wireless card may be faulty or have a loose antenna, resulting in bad reception and slow data. If your laptop runs on WiFi at normal speed from your room this would confirm my suspicions.

Good luck!

Hi I am new here and if I have made this thread in the wrong place please forgive me and let me know where to move it and I will do it.

I have a question I would like to ask regarding Internet Router & Ethernet cable. I have done a lot of research but still nobody has managed to give me a knowledgeable answer.

Basically, my problem is that my internet connection is VERY slow using WiFi, so I am trying to connect it using ethernet cable. However, my room is simply too far from my utilities room (where my router is located) to stretch a long wire all the way from there to my room. Any help is very much appreciated because I really do not know what to do. I am completely lost. I have been trying to find a wire to make it work for so long but i cannot find anything that works.

Please help me.

Many thanks in advance
You may be able to get a cable with an RJ45 plug on one end and the type of phone connector used in your country. (Which you have not told us or put in your profile.) I found Googling "RJ45 phone connections" that Amazon (And probably other suppliers.) sell a cable to connect a british type phone connector to RJ45. This would only work if cat 5 (or cat 6) cable has been used in the building AND that the twisted pairs have been connected to the same pins as they would be for networking. Only 2 pairs will be used for your network connection.

Les.
Go to any building materials supply house, My favorite is MENARDS. They sell a whole series of connector devices that accommodate electrical boxes, including EITHERNET connectors. All you have to do is buy these little square MODULES that snap into a mounting plate. In MY case , I provided eithernet, phone and TV cable all in one standard 2" x 3" outlet box.. You can buy eithernet cable from eBay in various lenths up to 1000 feet.
