I want to choose the values of the R and C in an envelope detector. I have the carrier and the modulating signal frequencies. How can I do that ?

I already had a look at the site you listed before I post, but non of them state clearly how to choose the values of the R and the C. so any further help will be appreciated.

 

Here is the exact question:

A carrier of 4V is modulated by a signal of amplitude 2V and frequency 10kHz. If an envelope detector is used to for the recovery of the modulating signal using 1Kohm resistor, estimate a suitable value of the capacitance used .
