Hello all,

I would be grateful, if somebody can give me a tip and some education on a great enameled copper wires I can use for soldering and connection with small pads on PCB for IC's.

We are using some in our company, but one colleague has bad experience working with them and also said he had some of these wires which was better to solder with than the current ones and so on.

My question is then: Are some major differences in these enameled copper wires? Are some of them coated with different material, therefore, the isolation is easier to remove by soldering tool (how is it called in English properly by the way?)? Would appreciate any given advice or opinion on this topic.

Thank you in advance!

Have a great day
Martin

Enameled copper wire can be soldered without scraping of the enamel.
Soldering iron cannot be used to scrape of enamel. As the Enamel is very heat resistant.

There are different types of insulation on enameled wire used for different purposes. Some handle high temperatures and you use them for winding inductors and such, others are for low temperatures and are easy to solder without removing the laquer beforehand and you´d want to use this type for PCB changes.

We are removing this enamell by solder iron and solder on high temperature, so I know this type. I know that there are different options, but my interest is more in this solderable one, if there are some which are easier/harder to remove. We would like to use the most easiest one of course, so is there some material or some type of name which can directly make better my choice? Or this is something which depends on brand or how thick the wire is and nothing like different coating material is not an option?

If you add a solder on solder iron, you can remove it. Question is on which temperature you can remove it (in our case 400 °C)
