I'm trying to replace a potentially faulty electret condenser microphone in a baby monitor. What does the number 2 mean on the component?

Is there any other way I can determine the standard operating voltage and impedance of the part? When I measure the impedance I get about 0.9 kOhm, but if the part is bad, then that value is incorrect.

If you're just trying to replace it, measure the voltage across where it was connected then connect a new one so the polarity is correct. I believe they are fairly interchangeable.

 

The "2" might indicate sensitivity.
