Is it possible to somehow hook up a 2" electrostatic crt to a dso 138 oscilloscope kit? I don't know a ton beyond some basic circuitry, but I thought this might be a cool little project to do. I'm hoping building this will give me some sense of pride and accomplishment so that I can be motivated to dive deeper into the hobbyist electronic/circuit design field.

What is an electrostatic CRT?

An "electrostatic CRT" is an eletrostatic deflected CRT used in older oscilloscopes. It uses a fairly high voltage and is not at all a beginner level project sort of thing. I have built an audio scope with a 10BP4 magnetic deflection CRT and a separate second anode supply, (no flyback transformer) and it was not a beginner level project.

And if the dso 138 oscilloscope kit is not a CRT scope it will not even have suitable deflection circuits. So I really do not recommend even considering this project.

That is very obvious. I should have known that. For some reason I had in mind a CRT video monitor. In fact I myself have a small 1-2" CRT that I was going to turn into an attaché case portable test bench many moons ago.
