Can you get a button switch that when pressed one end will stay latched then when pressed the other end will unlatch.

 

A slide switch?

 

That may work, I need the button to be pressed/pushed one end the pressed/pushed back the other end.

Basically a motor turns a shelf in one direction then hits a limit switch which turns the motor off, I need this switch to stay in until the motor turns the shelf back in the other direction and hits the same switch to reset the switch

 

Probabally easier to do it with a relay?
What you are describing is a latch.
When you say button switch, do you mean manual PB or limit switch?

Lots of toggle switches stay in the position where you put them. This sounds like a mechanical problem, how to mount a switch so a shelf hits it one way then the other way.
