Does anyone make sockets for mini relays?

You know the ones I mean. Songle mini relays on eBay like ones. I want to socket them because I'm going to be running them very close to there Max ratings and know I will have to replace them many times. If I cannot find sockets I'll have to put them on a vertical edge connector and pcb. But sockets would be preferable not to mention easier!

Here's hoping.

Thanks.

Hello,

When you use components near their maximum ratings, you are not very smart and it will give a safety issue.
Use components that are 1.5 to 2 times the ratings you need.

You could make your own by using the sockets from socket strips like these. They can be broken into individual sockets and positioned to suit the relays.

Are you talking about DIP relays?. Yes there are many sockets available for these. Most relay manufacturers have sockets for their relays.

This type.

I'm well aware of design considerations, however I have a butt load of these already and want to keep costs down for the time being. When building a prototype these considerations are less important. Naturally, any production runs will be sourced with more care.

As for the vehicular type relays, (as per the picture above ) there are a plethora of plugs to fit them readily available. Unfortunately, that type is too bulky for many projects I'm involved with.

I know these are designed for direct PCB insertion but I wanted to make maintenance a main feature. Something sadly lacking in many modern designs.

Thanks for your input.

Have you looked at the datasheet for them? They will not handle anything like the relays Max current!
And once again, the relays datasheet (or part number, so I could find the datasheet) would have been helpful because my crystal ball is broken. I have no idea if they or others can handle the relays max current, BECAUSE YOU DIDNT TELL US WHAT THAT MIGHT BE!

I always get a kick out of these small relay current ratings, this one shows 20A for 124VAC or 14VDC.
Opening one up that failed will usually expose very flimsy contacts.
They might last if used as dry contacts.

Relays and Sockets, the relays you pictured were designed for soldering the pins to a PCB it looks to me. In the past I have used the linked relays and sockets on pre manufactured boards with upwards of a dozen relays. The boards snapping right on DIN Rail.

Some small relays fit DIL sockets (turned pin type is best). Some non DIL form factor types can be accommodated with DIL sockets side by side - or you can cut the cross bars and position the rows where they suit the relay pins.

Any PCB relay used near its limit is probably better soldered in, it gives better heat transfer to the PCB than a socket. Its not something most people consider - but it can make a difference.

You can get sockets of various types for most relays with blade type pins. Some manufacturers just make the holes in the PCB big enough on single sided PCBs, but it doesn't look pretty and isn't very practical on through plated.
I think you missed the point of the post. No worries, just thought you'd like to know.

The point you appeared to be making was conspicuously inaccurate - so I thought I'd better say something..............................
