Does a smartphone AC adapter provide more output current when plugged to a 220V outlet?

Hello folks,

The AC adapter shown in the picture below is from my old iPod 4. I have used this with iPhone 4 and now the 8. It still has the same specifications as the new charger that came with the iPhone 8. Specs are:

Input: 100-240V, 50-60Hz
Output: 5V at 1A

Since, the battery on the iPod and iPhone 4 where smaller I didn't really mind the time it took to charge as it wasn't much. But I noticed with the 8 it takes far too long like the battery increases 1% every 8-10 minutes. That's too slow and it takes forever to charge. My wall outlet is 115V. So, out of curiosity since the charger works with European 240V, I decided to p[lug it into my Air Conditioner 220V outlet with the help of a "220V to universal style wall plug adapter" and plugged the charger to 220V.

I noticed now the iPhone was charging really quick. Like 1%-2% per minute.

What would have caused this issue? I thought that the output of the charger is always the same wether it was 115V or 240V.
Thanks.
