Do you watch satellite channels?

A thousand+ channels on Sky and all I watch are Discovery, NatGeo, CNN, BBC News and some of the entertainment channels. (Which is why I/we are considering going to Freeview/Freesat because it's £40 a month for the privilege of these.)

What is Peace TV?

I am considering switching to DirectTV (Satellite)

They start at $29.99 a month. And that includes HD channels for life (with a 2 year contract)

I currently pay about $80 a month and have only 2 movie channels.. For my brother.

I BARELY even see a tv these days.

An interesting thing, when my band was planning on writing and recording a new set, I would stop listening to "music" radio, and only listen to "talk" radio.. for "inspiration" from political and personal stories..and to not be influenced by "todays" hits.

If I get in front of the "idiot box", I just sit and drool.. I dont get anything done.

SOOOO, I only REALLY have cable TV for my brother.

If I can save $50 a month by switching to DirectTV, and keep my cable modem through comcast, I would be happy.

I pay the additional $5 a month for the 15-20Mbps download speed..

I get over 10Mbps on my laptop via wireless router.

Laptop:

I guess it was the server I was hitting, but I get faster upload speeds with the laptop.. 1Mbps faster over WiFi than with wired.

That can show you that HOW you test can affect test results.

Check the price of your internet connection without the cable TV before you do anything. Around here the internet connection is high priced with out using their cable. I have Directv and love it except when it rain/thunder storms, and reception goes out:(

No, I get basic cable because it comes with my Internet. Before that, I used broadcast (i.e., the old rabbit ears). I get ESPN on the internet (ESPN3.com) and am considering going pure Internet in the future. I will miss Abby (NCIS), but she is not really worth $30/month vicariously.

Why not just use something like Hulu. It's subscription, but cheaper. Also, I download TV programs after they air.

There is one reason, and one reason only, that we do not have only basic cable.

Cartoon Network

Comcast switched cartoon network from the basic package to the premium package.

SO, one morning, I was awoken to a "NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I jumped up and ran into my brothers room yelling "What happened? Whats Wrong?"

"We dont have Cartoon Network anymore!", exclaimed my brother.

Obviously I did the only thing a mortal human COULD do in a situation like that...

..I got better service. ;)

My internet connection is $50 and change a month. Which I am happy with for 20+ Mbps download speeds.

BUT, at 2:02am, even 20Mbps doesn't comfort me ;)

Hey, there's always Katie Couric. But, I guess she is not on in the morning. Your are SOOL. I guess it is premium or nothing. Sort of ironic, isn't it?

It just isnt right I tell ya.

Whats a man to do? I COULD start waking up when Katie comes on, and get a late job like bill_marsden, but no HOW much Katie Couric wears, she still doesn't have the comedic talent of 90%* of the Cr'toons.

*90% may be a LOW number. Even with all the crap toons out there, she just isnt funny. ;)

One channel shows NCIS at 21.30 on Tuesdays. I watch that show, and Bones, Thursdays at 21.30. Its the only thing I watch. Except movies...

I think McNerdy and Abby is worth the dollars. :D

I wish I had internet TV..so I could do without the cable.
You guys have better luck at cable TV internet service, our sucks big time.

The 3G net service is much better compared to the cable services.
Unless you get a 10mbs business package..you are bound to wait for long time page loads.

One more thing...I too often watch CN.
