Gday',

General question to more experienced people than I...

I have been gifted a nice 38v transformer... so I'm thinking I'm gonna' make a diy lab psu.

I know most of this is WAY over kill, but I want simple to mount stuff.

My general idea before I get designing too much is this 38v AC -> 20a Bridge rectifer-> on the DC output put 2 caps. 1uf 50v (ceramic) and a 100-1000uf 50v (electrolytic) -> DPS5020 I read nice reviews on.

I want an easy to repair device I can... use without fear.

I was thinking along the lines of the DPS5020 type of supply. But what is the current rating on the transformer?
A smaller version regulator may be worth looking at. The DPS5020 is a 20Amp supply.
