diodes used in driver circuit to power mosfet

can i use general purpose diodes in my driver circuit to power my mosfet irf 640 0r 840 instead of ultrafast recovery diodes?

UF4007 is an ultra fast diode that's what the UF stands for. Do not use a standard diode in this position.
Driver I.C's like the IR2153D have the diode built in, but the IR2153 does not.

Yes I agree, should have a completely different number.
UF4007 and 1N4007 are different enough.

The UF diodes use the same methodology for specifying voltage. It would be worse if they came up with a different, but equivalent, numbering scheme; like Diodes Inc did for their 1N54xx series:

i used general purposed diodes in my driver circuit i got low side gate pulse from the driver but i could not see high side gate pulse.
