Circuit
I am interested in building one, but the IC's are not in production and I could not find a replacement. So can someone recommend a replacement or a different circuit?

I hate when they sell chips for those kinds of prices. Now only if I could buy some cheap today and resell them 1000x more then original.

Thanks John! I have bookmarked Findchip.
Only Maxim makes these parts and they cost a few dollars each but I will see if they can send me a sample.

For the effort involved, the circuit ain't so impressive. This is 35 year out-of-date technology. Any digital panel meter, like a $32.00 MuRata DMS-20LCD-0-5-C will outperform the voltmeter part. That's Mouser part #580-DMS-30DR-0-R-C.

The ammeter part can be kludged with the same meter and a sensing resistor, or you can get a DC panel ammeter for $50.00. That is Mouser part # 580-D520PC-6-DC4GS-C.

And, since you have to multiply the two readings to get power, you could think about a moderately good DVM.
