Dear Team,

I need to make a voltage divider using a digital potentiometer. Most probably I will be using this ( MCP4011 ).
My I/P is 3.6V and I need an output of 0.8V to 3V.I have some confusion regarding the connection.

Do I need to connect as shown in Fig-1 or Fig-2?

Hi Eric,

Thank you.
In some places, I have seen if they connected as shown in Fig-2 and saying rheostst mode.
May I know the difference.

hi HARI
IF in fig #2. say the 3.3V was connected to your digipot via a resistor, then the full range of the digipot could be used.

Without a series limit resistor the 100% setting would short out the 3.3V
