Hi to all,

I will need opinion which is best solution for using optocoupler for digital input design.
solution 1. is with common resistor and optocoupler diode and LED in series.
solution 2. is two separate parallel circuits one for LED and second for optocoupler.

Kindly send your opinion which solutions is better.

#1 should work fine if the source voltage is adequate. Also draws less current from the source.

 

Assuming the opto is doing the more critical work, solution 1 has one more failure point.

Solution 1 should be fine.
It takes less parts, and less current.
