Diamond fibers and Thermal conductivity

I wonder if diamond fiber (similar to optical fibers) can made? Diamond is the best known thermal conductor, If a fiber is created and used in a stranded cable, cound it be used to conduct unwanted waste heat away from a hot source? Something like a car engine for example.

I'm thinking of eliminating chilled water systems. I don't even know if diamond fiber is feasible, we can synthesize it maybe it is possible. One strong cable.

A clear case of putting mouth in gear before researching all the facts if you were to fill a car with heat pipes all merging with one heat pipe going to a radiator which is nothing but heat pipes could you eliminate water pumps?

Graphene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reportedly have comparable (and, in some reports higher) thermal conductivity to diamond (in-plane graphene/CNTs averaging 1500-2500 W/m/K, with reports up to 5300 and even 6600 W/m/K), so that's an option.

Good luck with that. Chilled water systems can use ultra-pure DI water to provide cooling and electrical isolation with a low foot-print at high-density heat targets. I'm sure it's possible to create diamond fiber but I've seen very little research on diamond based cooling systems.

In my old job I built a lot of temperature control systems, you just made it clear how much I do not know. Thanks for the info.

The strength aspect of such a fiber is something I had not considered until later in this thread, it would be interesting to see how strong a cable made out of this material might be.
