Hi All

I am in the process of designing a push pull converter and wanted to enquire how you go about determining the number of turns on the primary and secondary side of the centre tapped transformer I know the turns ratio, can anyone suggest the calculation or a rule of thumb when selecting the number of turns on the primary and secondary side this is a boost push pull converter. Is it just a case of letting the primary side =1 and the secondary what ever value N you wish to boost by, I assume the primary side will require more turns. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

The calculator is probably the best approach for you. If that doesn't work out, just use 1 to 2 turns per volt, then based on the necessary wire size select the appropriate core & bobbin and gap.
