I wish to avoid feeding power into my mains supply, can anybody point me to a simple circuit that can detect reverse power please. I was originally thinking of using a small induction motor and detect power flow direction using that with magnets hall effect sensors etc. I wondered if it could be simplified by using CTS,resistors etc. Thank you for any help

How are you going to detect a naturally reversing signal at 50/60hz and know when it's faulty?

Do you men feeding electricity back into the National Grid?

Detect ac reverse power

You are going to have to much better define exactly what you are trying to do? AC (Alternating Current) reverses direction about 50 to 60 times per second depending on your location so it is constantly reversing current flow. You can for example detect the presence of AC mains power from a utility company. Just really well define what you exactly want to do.

Its to detect 240v ac 2 amps going back into the national grid, thanks for the meter offer I am down in the east mids, the old disc meter was what I had in mind with its induction motor but wondered how the feed in tarrif meters worked with just CTS etc. I know the ac current changes every cycle but if that changes phase with voltage the power direction can be obtained, or the disc of a meter reverses direction because its motor reverses.

Should have said if the magnetic field changes in relation to current flow the motor spins the opposite way, the old disc meters were ideal for this.

Is your utility company happy about you trying to feed power into the grid? As far as I'm aware, for safety's sake only officially approved grid-tied units can be used, especially if you're hoping to get credit for the energy fed in.
