Well I bought a Dell latitude d830 battery few days ago.Now I want to know how to test its life?

How to be considered normal?

 

The manufacturer should give a battery life estimate, where I assume you mean runtime when you say life.

Lifetime is dependent on too many factors to be able to predict. I bought a Dell laptop in 2010, and the battery will give me maybe half an hour now.

Batteries in laptops I had from work usually crapped out in a couple years.

 

1 year is normal. They are made to brake. It depends on the class of laptop (bussiness, home, etc.).
