Delaying a clock signal by 45 degrees.

Dear all,

is there a way to delay a clock signal (translate its phase) by 90 degrees without just adding delay gates and so on ?

I know that to delay the phase by about 180 degrees, you just pass the clock through an inverter, but what to do for 90 degrees?

By 45 degrees of what?
An inverter does not "delay by 90 degrees" it inverts the signal with no delay.
