I am working on a prototype of walking assistant device which helps people in walking by supporting the hips movement.
To do so, I need a small dc motor with high torque(I don't know the exact torque yet). I am thinking of the motor used in car wipers.
Is there better options? And what about using a brush-less DC motor? And if I am stuck with certain option, how can I increase the torque if needed?

I suggest you do an experiment, using e.g. a spring balance strapped to your thigh, to get a good estimate of the torque required. Then you can research for a suitable motor. Speed of operation, as well as torque, are necessary factors.
