I've got a SIP T3001 generator with a faulty capacitor which has no value printed on it, the OEM spare cap is £30 the non OEM is £7, can the correct uf value be calculated?

240 and 110 v
3 kva max output
2.6 kva continuous

Theres several SIP T3000 generators. Some are capacitor regulated, others are AVR regulated, so which is yours? Picture of the generator or a circuit diagram would be helpfull. Capacitor regulated must have the right value, a change of value alters the out put voltage.

Mine is capacitor regulated.

The manufacturer has told me the same 15 uf capacitor is in all the models from 2 to 3 kva, which I find strange.

I would try the 15uf & see what you get for voltage.. Those types of generators are not real stable with there voltage. Any increase in RPM will increase the voltage. If the RPM is right & the voltage is too high try a smaller value.
