The Prime Minister of Canada says that unvaccinated people will face the consequences.
And yet few Canadians actually support such measures.

Another rather unfortunate consequence of taking the hard-line approach is that it undermines the very underpinnings of liberty itself. Well just look at what happened to China! Is that REALLY the kind of world that most of us want to live in?

This is the risk of such motivations from the Gov, no matter what you do, even if you chip them won’t matter, they will just clone electronic chips, Criminals will find a way to profit from such non sense. Last night in the local news show‘s a guy making $60 on one card sold in a parking lot at a Homedepot, the undercover news guy asked how many he sells a day, he said about 300 cards, so $18k a day. Without fear when confronted about the sales he said: Oh well I didn’t know it was illegal until just now. It’s not petty crime over $500 is a felony for each count.

They don’t care they will just spend time in jail only to get out and do it again.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized fake vaccine cards shipped from China to Tennessee last week. The shipment was disguised as paper greeting cards and upon reading the description in the shipment manifest, customs and border patrol officers "already knew what it was," the agency said in a statement.

The shipment was on route to the central business district of New Orleans but was intercepted at at the port of Memphis. The agency said it was the 15th such shipment that night and inside were "51 low quality, counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards."

The cards look like real vaccine verification cards with blanks for name, birthdate, vaccine brand and other information, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and prevention logo. However, the cards had typos, unfinished words and some Spanish words that were misspelled, the agency said.

I was called out for disinformation when I said the base vaccine document was totally insecure and untrustworthy to prove actual vaccination status. Articles like this only make my point, only clearer. Vaccine passports are only as good as the data in the database and here, the source data is so easily faked it's become a joke in the US.

"Paper Greeting Cards/Use For-Greeting Card,"

But Benjamin Mason Meier, a global health policy professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, questions how institutions can verify those records.

“The United States, unlike most countries which have electronic systems in place, is basing its vaccination on a flimsy paper card,” he said.
Unfortunately the very people faking vaccination are the most likely to transmit the virus to others.

There are protestors everywhere who protest about everything. We ignore them because Canada has 73% of eligible people fully vaccinated now. We are late to have vaccination passports that are now used in Europe.
Since the majority of Canadians are fully vaccinated then we do not want a group of unvaccinated people anywhere near us.
Vaccination passports will keep them away.

97% of the people going to hospital now have severe symptoms of Covid-19 and are unvaccinated.
Masks are still recommended even for fully vaccinated people because some of them catch the virus but have no symptoms then pass the virus to unvaccinated kids and adults.

Today the Center for Disease Control is United States recommends a 3rd dose of the vaccine for every American because there are so many unvaccinated people who are passing the virus around. Today Canada is giving a 3rd dose to transplant, cancer and other people with serious medical problems. I am healthy but I hope my 3rd dose comes soon because I am old.

Unfortunately with Delta even 80%+ vaccinated is unlikely to stop transmission (while still preventing most sickness and death) unless that entire population has a booster or a shot designed specifically for Delta. It's that much of a game changer sadly.
Get your booster today if possible, don't wait.

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation...ta-hint-at-a-rise-in-breakthrough-infections/
Breakthrough infections in vaccinated people accounted for at least 1 in 5 newly diagnosed cases in six of these states and higher percentages of total hospitalizations and deaths than had been previously observed in all of them, according to figures gathered by The New York Times.

The absolute numbers remain very low, however, and there is little doubt that the vaccines remain powerfully protective. This continues to be “a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” as federal health officials have often said.

Still, the rise indicates a change in how vaccinated Americans might regard their risks.

“Remember when the early vaccine studies came out, it was like nobody gets hospitalized, nobody dies,” said Dr. Robert Wachter, chairman of the department of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. “That clearly is not true.”

The figures lend support to the view, widely held by officials in the Biden administration, that some Americans may benefit from booster shots in the coming months. Federal officials plan to authorize additional shots as early as mid-September, although it is not clear who will receive them.

“If the chances of a breakthrough infection have gone up considerably, and I think the evidence is clear that they have, and the level of protection against severe illness is no longer as robust as it was, I think the case for boosters goes up pretty quickly,” Wachter said.

The seven states — California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Virginia — were examined because they are keeping the most detailed data. It is not certain that the trends in these states hold throughout the country.
The quicker Delta infects and forcefully vaccinates the unvaccinated, the better for all of us who have been vaccinated.

Your news says "1 in 5 (20%) new cases are breakthrough in vaccinated people", my news says only 3%.
Yes, some people lie and need a vaccination passport to prove it.

That's using the latest data from places like Oregon with good data collection and strict current masking rules. Most of the old lower percentages were from the pre-Delta infection era.

https://www.opb.org/article/2021/08/07/covid-19-oregon-cases-delta-variant-vaccine-health-authority/
About one out of every five COVID-19 infections reported in Oregon in July were breakthrough cases; those which were were diagnosed in people who are fully vaccinated, according to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).

And 18% of Oregon’s July COVID-19 fatalities were also in fully vaccinated people. That’s a big increase from the June breakthrough report, which showed that vaccinated individuals made up just 8% of COVID-19 cases and 6% of deaths.

“While the July deaths show a higher percentage of vaccinated people have died from COVID-19 than in previous months, it’s too early to tell if this change represents a trend we will see in coming reports,” Dr. Melissa Sutton, the medical director for respiratory viral pathogens at OHA, said in a press release Monday.

Those are concerning numbers, and they highlight two key takeaways: Vaccines make a person much less likely to both contract and die from COVID-19, but at the speed the delta variant is circulating, people should take addition measures to stay safe.
In absolute numbers breakthrough cases are small but with Delta that's all you need to start a local cluster of increasing cases because it's so contagious. It's too early to tell how even 100% valid and effective vaccine passes will affect transmission rates during the Delta wave. We don't have the data, only opinions.

Texas governor Greg Abbott caught COVID after having both shots and even a third. He had no symptoms and was seen at a local republican convention where due to his opposition to masks he turned into what is most likely super spreader event amongst old folk. The irony is thick. He has ordered no mask ban mandate can not be ordered by any government entity within Texas, including schools. More than one of which is fighting that order in the courts.

A grim warning from Israel: Vaccination blunts, but does not defeat Delta
“Now is a critical time,” Israeli Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz said as the 56-year-old got a COVID-19 booster shot on 13 August, the day his country became the first nation to offer a third dose of vaccine to people as young as age 50. “We’re in a race against the pandemic.”

His message was meant for his fellow Israelis, but it is a warning to the world. Israel has among the world’s highest levels of vaccination for COVID-19, with 78% of those 12 and older fully vaccinated, the vast majority with the Pfizer vaccine. Yet the country is now logging one of the world’s highest infection rates, with nearly 650 new cases daily per million people. More than half are in fully vaccinated people, underscoring the extraordinary transmissibility of the Delta variant and stoking concerns that the benefits of vaccination ebb over time.

The sheer number of vaccinated Israelis means some breakthrough infections were inevitable, and the unvaccinated are still far more likely to end up in the hospital or die. But Israel’s experience is forcing the booster issue onto the radar for other nations, suggesting as it does that even the best vaccinated countries will face a Delta surge.
To try to tame the surge, Israel has turned to booster shots, starting on 30 July with people 60 and older and, last Friday, expanding to people 50 and older. As of Monday, nearly 1 million Israelis had received a third dose, according to the Ministry of Health. Global health leaders including Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, have pleaded with developed countries not to administer boosters given that most of the world’s population hasn’t received even a single dose. The wealthy nations pondering or already administering booster vaccines so far mostly reserve them for special populations such as the immune compromised and health care workers.
Get vaccinated and/or get a booster because it's very likely this winter you will be exposed (but not sick if vaccinated) to Delta.

IMO we are wasting a lot amount of time and energy on mandated masking (something I support in schools and in health related environments) in places like Texas because even if you win it won't stop or slow the Delta virus transmission in the general population, it's just too damn contagious. I'd much rather be in the battle for mandated vaccination of the general population. He's not sick because he had the shots, not because he did or didn't wear a mask. The key to the long term prevention of sickness and death is the vaccine with masking as a helper in reducing transmission levels indoors.

“Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.”

That’s what the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers have forgotten. If they want their freedom, they better have nothing left to lose, because they’re betting their families and friends lives

The anti-vaxxers are the worse of the lot. I wear a mask when mandated but I hate the things. Just because I gotta wear the damn thing doesn’t mean I gotta ENJOY it.

Just had my 3rd Pfizer shot today. In Oregon you simply attest you need it, show them (local Walgreens drug store) your paper VAXX card and you get the shot in under 10 min.
Just attested I need it because of my lung issues they refused, not immune system suppressed I think it’s a crock of Sh……… Utah is one of the highest climbing in cases.

I guess you needed to say or circle the magic words 'other immunocompromised', 'X syndrome or deficiency'. In my qualified 3rd shot visit they didn't ask for specifics and I didn't offer.
