It restores a little faith in doctors to see they are keeping up with the modern findings.
I can't repeat some of his comments when I went in for the blood draw, due to political content. I but I really like this guy. He's quite elderly, should've retired by now, must like his job.

This brings up an age old issue. Is older better or is younger, for doctors. Usually I prefer older. But recently I saw a young vet for my cat with apparent cancer and unlike other older vets she suggested a possible treatment, which we are trying. Having to rethink things I guess.

Doctors are people, and like almost all people, cannot be easily judged by outward appearances.

Not really appearance per se in this case but considering experience versus recentness of training. After my physician retired a few years ago I saw his colleague. Asked him about coffee, he said he didn't drink it. Strike 1. Told him I had lumbar surgery a few years back, maybe L5-L6. He said there is no L6. Strike 2. Can't remember what Strike 3 was, but now I see the aforementioned older gentleman.

Can you imagine yourself standing in front of the press and announcing that this or that MAY have happened. Well duh, anyone can dream up scenarios. I happen to believe this particular speculation but I wouldn’t dream of using my official position, if I had one, to push it out there. Of course they were probably ordered to do so.

And where is the “without evidence” line the press was so fond of applying to anything Trump said?

The press here for this 'story' is a TV News channel. IMO they've been known to run with conspiracy theories without one shred of evidence if it sells soap like the rest of the media.

There are just as many if not more believers in a US CV-19 bioweapon conspiracy without one shred of evidence.

The same day Zhao tweeted that the virus might have come from the U.S. Army, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei also announced that COVID-19 could be the result of a biological attack.

State media outlets reinforced Khamenei’s message, drawing on foreign sources for validation. Tasnim News, for example, quoted Nikulin, the self-proclaimed Russian bioweapons expert, to suggest the U.S. engineered the virus to target China. Javan Online quoted Zhao’s tweets to claim Chinese officials had evidence the U.S. was behind the pandemic.

Others say, BS.
Did you read the article? I was struck by the following claim:

At first, China said the COVID19 virus originated in the Wuhan Seafood Market – but the problem with China's theory: the first case had no connection to the market. Last fall the US obtained intelligence that indicates there was an outbreak among several Wuhan lab scientists with flu-like symptoms that left them hospitalized in November of 2019 - before China reported its first case.

Doesn't help that the Chinese and WHO appear to be stonewalling and covering up. To me this is like coming home to find all the garbage dumped on the floor and the dog is pointing at the cat. Sure, you bet.

I expect more from an intelligent group as to be found on this forum.

This is the Internet. Anyone without regard for their credentials, with a sufficient audience, can make ANY statement they want. In the old days, we’d research credentials, look for corroborating evidence by sufficient credentialed authors and then, require personal duplication of results.

But, the Internet allows publication of any crackpot idea, supported by other crackpots, as gospel.

Sheesh!

We are engineers and scientists, and some of us ignore the training we’ve had, and post any doodie we want to believe.

At the risk of repeating myself, sheesh!

Yes, I read the BS article about the China leak/bioweapons theory. As usual it's a selectively edited story slanted to the conspiracy instead of actual facts.
As top U.S. officials prepare to meet their Chinese counterparts for their first face-to-face meeting during the Biden administration, the State Department’s former lead investigator who oversaw the Task Force into the COVID-19 virus origin tells Fox News that he not only believes the virus escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but that it may have been the result of research that the Chinese military, or People’s Liberation Army, was doing on a bioweapon.

Virologist Marion Koopmans told NBC News that some scientists working at a Wuhan lab studying the coronavirus became sick in Fall 2019. She says China revealed the researchers tested negative for the virus, and the evidence does not point to a lab leak.
Fall 2019 they were sick but that was long before working on the current coronavirus later in March 2020 when they tested negative.

Even if the did get the actual virus instead if having flu-like symptoms millions of people have in winter there is still not one shred of evidence the actual origin of the virus was the lab. I've no doubt that China knew of a spreading viral agent in the country long before the Wuhan superspreader event because its happened before.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) are two highly transmissible and pathogenic viruses that emerged in humans at the beginning of the 21st century. Both viruses likely originated in bats, and genetically diverse coronaviruses that are related to SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV were discovered in bats worldwide. In this Review, we summarize the current knowledge on the origin and evolution of these two pathogenic coronaviruses and discuss their receptor usage; we also highlight the diversity and potential of spillover of bat-borne coronaviruses, as evidenced by the recent spillover of swine acute diarrhoea syndrome coronavirus (SADS-CoV) to pigs.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/12/us-...13percent-of-adults-now-fully-vaccinated.html

U.S. tops 100 million Covid vaccine doses administered, 13% of adults now fully vaccinated
On Friday, according to the CDC, the U.S. administered a record 2.9 million shots.

At this rate we might escape another major case peak like some of the world is seeing.

Are you seriously suggesting we believe anything the Chinese tell us? Even our government and the WHO are not trustworthy, but come on....
I believe in reality, not a fantasy story from the Chinese or US.

If this was the first time a virus originating from China caused by outdated, dangerous cultural practices and a willing to hide the deadly truth government hit the world it would be different but this is a recurring nightmare of greater and greater destruction. They have already burned three strikes and they should be OUT.

I don't think it was intentionally or accidentally spread from a lab in China. What happened in China was a flat out misinformation operation of a typical communist dictatorship designed to deflect the seriousness of in the wild transmission of SARS-CoV2 by the intentional threats and intimidation of Chinese officials who could have greatly reduced the world-wide spread if they were allowed to act in a reasonable manner last year, in China, before it became a Pandemic.

If we had actual evidence of Chinese government/military involvement with the release of the Coronavirus into the world and US population don't you think the former President would have been broadcasting it 7/24 before the last election instead of mumbling.

Not falling for a BS conspiracy story is not the same as believing in the Chinese BS cover-up story of how they mishandled the virus and through their actions caused the pandemic. The major crime here isn't the origin of the virus, it's the response to the virus from the Chinese government.

Not much has changed in China since the days of the almighty emperors. They were considered demigods who owed explanations to no one. Who considered themselves the law itself, with utter disregard for human life, and who dictated their subjects what to think, what to do and even how to feel.

The only difference nowadays is that they have been supplanted by an all powerful and omnipresent party of demagogues.

Not when the relevant investigatory elements of his own administration were openly hostile to him and wasted too much resource on a Russian fairy tale.
I'll quote myself.
In for a penny in for a pound, eh? For me these issues require probability estimation which cannot be 0 or 100%. My estimate is 80% the virus came out of a lab, and if so, 10% it was intentional. If and when more information is revealed, the estimates get adjusted.

So now there is another conspiracy story of the former President being kept in the dark about something that so far has killed 500,000+ Americans and now with the current President, those same 'Shadow Forces' are keeping him in the dark too, you can do better than the equivalent of a UFO cover-up. This is headed straight to a troll farm.

It's been more than a year since reports of these so far imaginary virus creation events were in the public and all the conspiracy stories have been out there for a year without a shred of evidence supporting them. People can make up their own beliefs but they can't makeup their own facts.
