There is a study just released on why we dream, their hypothesis and conclusion is that because sight is the only sense that is not active when we sleep, dreaming prevents other areas of the brain from encroaching into the area reserved for sight etc.I understand. I should have been less specific. My curiosity is less about the eyeballs themselves and more about the entire apparatus of visual perception,
Although dreaming must make use of the same sight receptors in the brain as when we are awake, I have some theories of my own as to the reason for dreams.
