What is strange to me though is not the number, but the reaction by the media and THUS the general public. Note i used all capitals for the word THUS.Don’t know where you got your stats from. And cherry picking five months is misleading. It’s been 5-1/2 months.
The total worldwide death count is a lot more than 200,000. Its 474,000!
Infection is not guaranteed. You literally have to lick the doorknobI assume that an infected person could sneeze on the packaging. Another person touched her. Brought it home, put it in the refrigerator and touched his face. Infection guaranteed.
The virus lives on the surface for a long time.
Millions of children die of malaria every year, but that is in Africa...What is strange to me though is not the number, but the reaction by the media and THUS the general public. Note i used all capitals for the word THUS.
Example, i have read in 2018 1.5 million people died of tuberculosis. Why no shutdowns?
I'll tell you why, because it was not yet thought of, of using a health issue to gain political advantage. History will be written and it will show the plain truth in retrospect.
At first i think everyone was in a panic because there was not much known about the virus. But then as we gained experience, not much changed. The idea started to come to life in full swing. Now everyone has to wait for some sort of "slow" reopening. Like the virus is going to know not to infect anybody because they are not completely together yet, and it might magically go away in the time we take to reopen. The reason for the shutdowns in the first place was to keep hospitals from being overrun with Covid patients. But it has been shown that this does not happen, so why the continued shutdowns and "slow" reopening. Doesnt make sense until you consider that there is another underlying reasoning behind some of this, and noting which states are the worst players highlights the reasoning.
On top of that we get riots due to police issues. I have to wonder what is next.
In totally absurd ways like who 'must' wear a face covering. (I personally wear a lightweight face shield when near crowds)And now the riots to further splinter people i to groups...
In Multnomah County, public health director Rachael Banks said the county “strongly encouraging” residents who are able to follow the governor’s mandate.
But, said Banks, “some people should not wear a face covering or don’t feel safe doing so.”
“There is also legitimate safety concern among some of our communities of color related to wearing face covering,” Banks said. “Racist reactions to Black, Indigenous, and people of color wearing face coverings is a reality. The County will not act in a way that may prompt over-policing or shaming of individuals.”
Banks said because of those reasons, “Multnomah County will not enforce the state’s face covering mandate.”

Lincoln County in Oregon has exempted non-white residents from a new order mandating mask-wearing in public in an attempt to counter racial profiling.

The White House press secretary does not always wear a mask. Her rationale is that the CDC only *recommends* wearing a mask, not forces it.In totally absurd ways like who 'must' wear a face covering. (I personally wear a lightweight face shield when near crowds)

Businesses are private property. They can ask you to leave the premises at any time and for any reason -- like not wearing mask. Refusing to leave when asked is considered trespassing. Some busnesses i have visited over the last month or two do in fact force it at the door, i wonder if that is a violation of free rights.
Interesting... in the older days, wearing a mask when entering a bank was... how can I put it? ... strongly discouraged. My main bank requires a mask
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...logist-says-world-went-mad-imposing-lockdownsSchool kids don’t appear to transmit the new coronavirus to peers or teachers, a French study found, weighing in on the crucial topic of children’s role in propagating Covid-19.
Scientists at Institut Pasteur studied 1,340 people in Crepy-en-Valois, a town northeast of Paris that suffered an outbreak in February and March, including 510 students from six primary schools. They found three probable cases among kids that didn’t lead to more infections among other pupils or teachers.
The study confirms that children appear to show fewer telltale symptoms than adults and be less contagious, providing a justification for school reopenings in countries from Denmark to Switzerland. The researchers found that 61% of the parents of infected kids had the coronavirus, compared with about 7% of parents of healthy ones, suggesting it was the parents who had infected their offspring rather than the other way around.
Tegnell’s underlying argument is that Covid-19 isn’t going away any time soon, meaning sudden, severe lockdowns will ultimately prove ineffective in addressing the longer-term threat. Meanwhile, the virus has recently resurfaced in a number of places where authorities thought they’d brought it under control, including Beijing.
“I’m looking forward to a more serious evaluation of our work than has been made so far,” Tegnell said. “There is no way of knowing how this ends.”
With the reopening it’s back on the rise, and the general population believe it’s ok to mingle. These birds of a feather flock together mentality, which tells me more about how they don’t meet CDC rules. The fact is they don’t realize the potential of infections, my daughter is a nurse won’t come near my house with my lung condition her husbands family came into contact with CD19 one is currently testing positive while we wait for more in the family to test positive. My oldest daughter is going to Texas which is now showing more positive people testing in the State they plan on flying, one of the people in her sixties had throat cancer and they removed her voice box, I think they are insane to board a plan with other people, but that’s how people live as well as die of ignorance.Morning Al,.
This post is somewhat at odds with your post #3,123.
My personal advice is take the advice of the Science, we spend zillions of dollars/pounds training these Scientists, so that they can advise us lesser mortals in times of crisis.
Wear a face mask,
wash hands often,
keep at least 1+ mtr away from any other person outside your family group,
take your own in flight food and drink,
have a few sanitized hand wipes in your pocket,
keep you hands off any hand rails.
If all else fails, close your eyes, put your fingers in your ears and hum very loudly..
Have a happy flight.
Eric.

Yeah i think the risk is smaller than they make it out to be, but it is still a risk and i mostly think twice when it involves a loved one possibly catching it and getting seriously ill. With the reopening it’s back on the rise, and the general population believe it’s ok to mingle. To each their own.
