I dunno. If you want to go out and "die of stupid", please be my guest.
So when do you release yourself from house arrest? People want to stay home for their safety and security that is fine with me. However, those who wish to go out should be allowed to do so and travel freely about. All of this has reached a point of insanity. How long should people sacrifice their freedoms for those who seem they know what is best for them? It has to end somewhere. Please do not refer to people who do not share your view as dying of stupid and some people may choose to die rather than sacrifice their freedom for a false sense of security. You do what works best for you and if that is staying at home then feel free to do so and worry less about what others may be doing.

Ron,

I could do as you ask, if you don’t refer to those who don’t share your view as restricting your freedoms. Your rights come with a responsibility to do no harm. Someone can never develop COVID symptoms and yet be a carrier. Because of the temporary restrictions, you, your friends and relatives have been spared a horrible illness. And I’m not making this up. I personally know 14 people exposed to the virus, 8 who have contracted it including 4 who have died.

Do you see any concern in my right eye? How about the left one?

I'm still staying in and keeping my head down to see if there are going to be any late hits before I come out. Missed several medical appointments and non-critical procedures that were scheduled and still need to be done. Going to be playing catch-up after I emerge.

Look, when I go out in public I wear a mask but I wear it for others. What I resent is when I am being told what I should or should not do. Personally, no, I have no friends or relatives who have died of COVID 19 which means little really. Most family and friends are younger than me and in better overall health. Hell, I am the old people. Of course I feel bad for people losing friends and relatives. I have been pretty confined for over 2 years caring for a sick wife and a wife with a weakened immune system so I am used to the confinement. However as she improves and can be left alone I sure want to get out and pretty sure the dogs do also. All I have seen is BS Models and conflicting doctors as to how to address all of this. Absolutely just my view but looking around, state by state, people are getting restless.

Which stupid - eaten by bears? Attacked by wolves? or catching coronavirus? I dont think I can catch coronavirus from bears or wolves, this is why I seek out their company :)

Here is stupid for you- you can go get a haircut but you need to wear a mask. Local people banded together and are sewing masks, for free. You need to put your name on a waitlist to get one (you can also buy it for $10). A number of people who want their haircut have been expecting these masks to be handed to them as they walk on. When they are told about the list, they unload on the fabric store owner.

Cannot beat human nature.

I'm a big fan of movie cliches. This is like the scene between Vizzini and the Man in Black. In this battle of wits we will find out in the end "who is right, and who is dead". And so it begins.

Today the GA Governor issued a 32-page order extending the state of emergency that was to expire on June 12 to now expire on July 12. All over 65 are to stay at home. All shopkeepers and customers of open businesses are to be masked. And that was just a tiny bit of the 32-page order. They haven't done much to enforce the existing order so I don't expect that to change and the general consensus seems to be to ignore it and carry on as before. But hey, it sounds good on paper so you can't blame the Governor. In other news, the local school board is buying every student and teacher laptops at quite a cost for a poor rural county of 10,000 or so. Seems the distance learning may not go away any time soon... Which will be quite a moneymaker for the county's private telephone company that provides the fiber internet connections throughout the county. That will be quite a telephone bill to pay for with my property taxes.

Hello,

Thai elevator with pedals:

Bertus
Imagine the pedal bank in a 100 story high-rise!

I wonder how sturdy those pedals are. People have a hard time abusing push buttons too much, but pedals...! Just imagine all the kids stomping on them and all the carts slamming into them. Then there's all the dirt and grime and debris from peoples' shoes. Then the janitorial services that are going to get them wet and carry the dirt and grime even deeper into the pedal mechanisms and, possibly, the electrical connections. It'll be interesting to see if they still think it's a good idea a year or two from now.

The assumption is that virus transfer via footwear will be less than via hands. I wonder if that will prove true, given that people handle their footwear when putting it on and taking it off?

My sister was stuck on a cruise ship. The really cool part was nobody on the ship was sick. They were pretty much all isolated. Yeah, think about places that rely on tourism? This whole thing has brought about new levels of insanity. I actually know people who stay in their houses all day and night and worry.

Ron
Life is too short to worry. Take proper precautions and have some fun.

The coast casino breakfast was great and empty.

That covers it. :) Glad you enjoyed. Mid June my sister has a bunch of cabins rented and we are planning a family gathering in W. Va. Looking forward to that.

Among the recommendations, thrill-seekers will be asked to wear masks at all times and “refrain from vocalizing loudly” on roller coasters and other rides.
...
Superheroes engaged in fights to the death with evil villains should also avoid whipping up support from spectators to prevent cheers and screams — and potentially coronavirus-laden droplets — from flying through the air.

Another upside of the lockdown has been a big reduction in the number of junk/scam phone calls received. Now though they seem to be on the increase again as lockdowns are eased in India etc.
