Rhode Island police began stopping cars with New York plates Friday. On Saturday, the National Guard will help them conduct house-to-house searches to find people who traveled from New York and demand 14 days of self-quarantine.
“Right now we have a pinpointed risk,” Governor Gina Raimondo said. “That risk is called New York City.”
...
The local chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union blasted the new rules, objecting to the collection of motorists’ contact information in particular.
“While the Governor may have the power to suspend some state laws and regulations to address this medical emergency, she cannot suspend the Constitution,” Rhode Island ACLU executive director Steven Brown said in a statement. “Under the Fourth Amendment, having a New York state license plate simply does not, and cannot, constitute ‘probable cause’ to allow police to stop a car and interrogate the driver, no matter how laudable the goal of the stop may be.”

As long as you still refuse to read the entire paragraph I can't help you.Ten million, not one million. Your death rate of 0.015% implies 10,000,000 since there are 1,500 deaths. With all respect, you are getting wrapped around the axle with the numbers and not looking at what is happening. The world would not be in lock down if the death rate was 0.015% of the number of people who are ill with Covid-19. If this were the case, the spread of the virus might not even be known. If would just be circulating with the seasonal flu and of no concern. By this logic, everything going on is a massive overreaction or a hoax.
PORTLAND, Ore. — In response to COVID-19, gas stations will no longer be required to enforce regulations against self-service, according to a press release from Oregon State Fire Marshal Jim Walker.
Walker said the state would be implementing new rules immediately, such as allowing people to pump their own gas, to ensure the health and safety of gas retailers.
If domestic pets, and feral cats and dogs help to spread this thing, it will become unstoppable. The sick pet in Liège tested positive after showing classic symptoms of COVID-19 — including difficulty breathing — a week after its owner first fell sick
I would think one person pumping the gas wearing gloves would be safer than having every customer handle the nozzle. Now it's getting real. I need to pump my own gas!

I thought Oregon had done away with that law quite some time ago, Have they ever lifted the ban temporarily in the past? Now it's getting real. I need to pump my own gas!

In Oregon that would be a lot safer.I would think one person pumping the gas wearing gloves would be safer than having every customer handle the nozzle.
In remote areas the law was changed a few years ago to allow self-serve for the general public but most of the state was under the old restrictions until now.I thought Oregon had done away with that law quite some time ago, Have they ever lifted the ban temporarily in the past?
But does this one make much sense?
Before: One person touches the gas nozzle (or a small group of employees that are already working in close proximity).
After: Everyone touches the gas nozzle with very little ability to track down contacts if needed (though credit receipts would be a start).
If I remember correctly (from some digging I did when I found out about the law first-hand something like 15 years ago) the law has no real teeth. The police can't enforce it, only the Fire Marshall and even they can only fine the station owner, not the motorist. In remote areas the law was changed a few years ago to allow self-serve for the general public but most of the state was under the old restrictions until now.
True but if there is a serious mishap guess who gets the blame for lax enforcement of the law? The Station, so they have a big incentive to keep you from pumping. If I remember correctly (from some digging I did when I found out about the law first-hand something like 15 years ago) the law has no real teeth. Will that hurt or help? There was one here and most likely will be one here again when this is done.
