The World should be concerned because we can't believe what the Chinese Government is saying. They're in face saving mode now because they waited too long to respond to the initial outbreak. It doesn't matter how many officials they fire or kill, or how many sycophants they replace them with; they blew their only real chance for mitigation to save face.

The death rate is higher than being reported because China is hiding deaths. All we can be certain of is that this is worse than SARS.

Yes, I can. Keep an eye on Hawaii. Just a rumor of coronavius in Hawaii will shut down the entire state. Tourism is the #1 industry. There is already one case of a man vacationing in Hawaii who either had the disease when he got there or picked it up there. We see the effect on a cruise ship. Then, think hotel/resort, Waikiki, etc. Then, there is the long flight in an infection chamber.

I am not surprised by the state's health dept. downplaying Covid's recent visit to paradise.
Hawaii is not shy about suppressing news that reflects poorly on either their hospitality, and/or threatens the tourist industry.
Crime against tourists almost never makes the local news, let alone national headlines, at least not until the perp appears in court. Covid would positively wreck tourism, and except for Oahu, the islands themselves lack sufficient medical facilities/personnel even in the best of times. Rampant corruption/nepotism afflict all aspects of the states first response resources. There is a large homeless population, exasperated by the recent eruption that destroyed hundreds of homes on the Big Island. Over-crowding in housing and shelters has zoomed. The state has endemic rates of tuberculosis that are shockingly high, and with this and a host of other diseases present on these impoverished isles, my guess is that Covid-19 will be a killer.

On AliX... Their orders have not shipped for about a week now.

"From Jan 19th PT to Feb 18th PT, the preparation period, cancellation time, dispute time and estimated delivery time of orders may be delayed due to the Chinese Spring Festival. And the seller may respond to your messages slower. Appreciate your kind patience and understanding."

The holiday was over Feb. 8!!! Comradespeak for "We are closed until further notice due to Chinese Death Flu"! I'm sure Uncle Mao would be proud!

One of the stores I buy resistors from opened on eBay Feb. 9 and is now closed again.

The corona virus in China is an excellent example why the U.S. should not be outsourcing so much of the manufacturing overseas. To make matters even worse, the U.S. is borrowing trillions from China to back fill the federal deficit.

Now you can see how fragile the global supply system is. Chinese manufacturing is falling off-grid now.

Executives say large container ships are leaving Chinese ports as little as 10% full, and sailings are being canceled as carriers brace for a financial retreat

Hi,

Shows how sensitive our society is to changes. We dont need the "Black Death" when we have the Chinese Death.

But hey does anyone know how this sickness/virus originated? Was it from an animal or something?

How is that different than here?
I agree. It has gotten bad here too because too many people believe the BS they're told from officials and aren't intelligent enough to know when they're being lied to. I'm pretty sure the majority of Chinese don't believe their government.

Our president is saying this virus will burn itself out in April; with no scientific data to back that claim.

EDIT: corrected typo on itself.

My company actually exports from the USA to China, and everything that was supposed to ship out around 2/1 (to arrive right after their new years) is on hold. Their employees have emailed us from home, and said the target date to restart is 3/1/20. Luckily, they are <5% of our sales, but this will affect our other customers' supply chains too.

It's based on what happened with SARS. Once the outside air temp reaches a certain temperature the virus cannot survive in the wild.
