I guess the real question is What Rights do Governors really have? They can declare Emergencies and allocate funds for it in their state. They can declare Curfews or Martial Law within their state and empower their State National Guard and State Police to enforce it. But, and this is a big but, can they close their border to US Citizens and prevent the open legal traffic of people and goods from bordering (or any other) US States??? I expect this to come up very soon once the legal scholars and ambulance chasers get their teeth on it.
Yeah, it's getting weird.

We may find out. My hunch is that, in the face of a threat to public health, a governor is as powerful as the people want him (her) to be. Could the governor of Florida put a bounty on the scalps of out-of-staters? Of course it won't get that far - this time - but I'm not sure what higher authority could prevent it.

DO NOT SKEW THIS INTO POLITICS!!!

The same Authority that was exercised when Governor Wallace called out the State National Guard to enforce his edict on Not Integrating of the U. of Alabama.
DO NOT SKEW THIS INTO POLITICS!!!

But as long as no one is beefing about what FL and others are doing it will continue doing it, legal or not...

They had something on World Tonight, some Churches are meeting and the Pastors think God will protect. Suddenly I thought about Meca and they meet to pray all the time?

He also said he could "Cure the whole State of Florida".
Pastor of Tampa church that held 2 large Sunday services arrested, jailed

“The Lord has helped us secure our congregation,” the pastor said. “We have brought in 13 machines that basically kill every virus in the place. If someone walks through the door, it kills everything on them. If they sneeze it shoots it down at a 100 mph. It’ll neutralize it in split seconds.

“So we have the most sterile building, I don’t know, in all of North America.”

All kinds of Charlatans and Snake Oils salesmen out there...

But that higher authority was invoked to support an important and fundamental idea. Would that authority go to bat for the “right” of infected people to endanger others?

Therein lies the rub, none. In fact, I would support, after stopping them, sending them back to where they came from along with a ticket for their efforts as a souvenir of their trip. But that is IF they are infected and not just from a "Hot Spot" and that would entail a LOT of manpower and expense. The FL Governor is mandating that any "Visitor from a Hot Spot" must self-quarantine for 14 days (which he has no way to verify). If they have a fever, turn 'em around and send 'em packing. In other words, make them someone else's problem and Alabama and Georgia don't want them either. The age-old argument over State vs Federal rights rears its head again. The lawyers will have a heyday and a payday. It's a big mess and going to get a whole lot messier before it's over.

Maybe. Our society only holds together because most people choose to do the right thing. Law enforcement can only handle the miscreants when they’re in a tiny minority.

Will we see militia ? Training locals would be difficult Unless they are already trained. What a hot mess that would be.

I doubt anything too serious will happen. We’re getting off easy with a relatively benign virus. If we were losing over 10%, things might break down.

These kind of screens are becoming quite common in California. Like at the Ace hardware in Pleasant Hill where I went yesterday. Had to buy a valve cartridge for my shower.

I don't understand this? Quoting the person is not political. He says it almost everyday at least once in the briefings, most days more than once. Nothing critical of him was said, just his words.
@shortbus, my friend -- As the 'labyrinth of moderation' goes this particular 'adit' would seem truly easy to navigate -- To wit: any reference to, quotation of, or comment regarding a politician, or political party is 'nix' -- plain as that! and, for my money, we're better off for it! --- Remember the 'politics experiment'? -- I know I'd rather not:eek:!

Sincerely, best regards
