I read that the highest mortality rate is for age 60+ males who smoke.

Uh Oh I'm screwed. OK, I did quit smoking (thank you Chantix) but 50 years took their toll and I am well over 60, about a decade over. Woe is me. I sneezed earlier too, that could be a bad sign.

Years ago it to a disease a long time to spread but today with it being a small world infectious disease travels at the speed of a jet plane. All it takes is one infectious person (Typhoid Mary) and away things go. How do you defend against it? Nobody really can.

Go hide in a dark hole, but don't eat the bats! I read that they have been studying corona viruses in bat population at US research labs for about 30 years now and that this particular one was stolen from a research lab in North Carolina by the chinese. It was the assumption that the chinese were trying to weaponize it in one of their research labs and obviously got out of their lab.

How can that be? The Netherlands is much smaller than the US?

Is the US government lying to its citizens?

 

My son in Seattle says it is a ghost town. His wife's college classes are shut down to elearning from home for at least the next 2 weeks. Plus she is sick and had classes with some of the folks who work at the nursing home where the deaths were.

Here's something else interesting. Cleveland, Ohio USA has its share of Chinese restaurants. This morning on the news they were interviewing a Chinese restaurant owner, nice guy. I guess as a result of all this the Chinese restaurants are taking a hard hit, his business was way down. Seriously? People just get really weird. No clue if this extends outward but it can't be limited to just Cleveland. This bug is also wreaking havoc with the global economy with a whole bunch of speculation going on.

There used to be a fuel ethanol producer that made very nice semi-premium vodkas, one from wheat and one from rye. I definitely preferred the rye and it turns out that their marketing uncovered that the rye was preferred by men but women preferred the wheat.
