@shortbus I didn't take your comment that way at all. At the time I was in disagreement with you. That's why I at first didn't want to take down my comment. But in the light of overwhelming contrary stances I took it down because (two reasons) it was obviously in error, and because you asked. I didn't feel like you were "Instructing" me to take it down. Nor did I feel you came across in any other way than someone who knew enough about the subject to suggest I take it down. There are no hard feelings here. Not with you, nor with anyone else here.

Right is right and wrong isn't.

The problem comes when a person doesn't expand their knowledge and goes on thinking the rest of the world is wrong, not them.
I'd say that another problem is when a person does know about the subject being discussed, but reacts arrogantly and condescendingly instead of making said moment a teaching opportunity.

Tony, while I very much approve of your humility ... I think deleting your posts was overdoing it a little bit. Maybe other people in the future could've learned something from the discussion. No offense, but it read something like the argument between Salviatus and Simplicius in Galielo's Two World System's Dialogue.:D ... But that's only my opinion, of course.

No information is always better than bad information. A lack of knowledge prevents one from moving forward without further research. Bad information can motivate someone to act on erroneous information. Since I'd rather not be responsible for someone getting hurt I chose to delete what was, by consensus, in error. I say "by consensus" because I don't know for sure what ALL others were saying was accurate. But "BY consensus" it's highly likely they were right.

To observe only the inductive part of a motor system you need to keep it from rotating Yes, motors do have inductance but the effect of that inductance is quite a bit less than the effect of the counter EMF.
