A shutdown is usually recorded in the System log. Look in the windows Event logs with Event viewer and see if any entries show what caused the shutdown.

If the shut down occurs repeatedly, it is possible that

* Your 'C' drive is running out of space, 0r
* your CPU is overheating and it's heatsink requires some cleaning.

It could be somethings like these:
1. Power supply failure -- the system detected the psu doesn't stable, so shutdown the computer to protect the CPU.
it could be there is capacitor already damaged in the psu.
2. The capacitor on system failure - to check on PC main board does any capacitor bulged, you can see them sometimes, but sometimes you don't.

3. The conductors of golden fingers of DRAM is unclean, you can using the pencil eraser to clean it.

This thread is pointless. Without access to the OP's computer there is no way to determine why it shut down for sure. The possibilities are many. If it was an anomaly it will be nearly impossible.

You just provide the possible problems, if he can't find the problem then the problem belongs to the TS.

How many times did it happen? If it is just once then there is nothing to worry about.

If it happens often then the reasons it could be happening are many.

You can start by reloading Windows 7. Drastic but that should eliminate software.

If that does not work replace your power supply.

But before you do all of that try a new power strip.
