I don't know very much about electronic components and likewise, need to know; are there any components which act like an switch that's on, but stop conveying electricity after a specific amount of time as a result of receiving said electricity?

I am trying to create a device that unplugs things with the press of a button. I will have a remote that transmits a signal to a circuit that leads to two motors. I don't want to have them moving perpetually until the button would be pressed again, so I was thinking of having the switch stop a bit after it started.
