Hey all I am looking for a way to communicate to a wireless router via a micro controller using RS-485. I have found adapters for this, but I am inexperienced with this kind of design. The router must be able to send signals up to 2km away with bad or NLOS conditions, so I wanted to use a yagi-uda antenna, but can I just connect that to a device like this (https://www.amazon.com/USR-WIFI232-610-Serial-802-11-Ethernet-Converter/dp/B00QWYW8E4).

Im concerned about range/fidelity issues. Can anyone that has any experience help me out here? Thanks, I appreciate any help.

Well.....with those frequencies.....perhaps a satellite.....or a repeater.......or you might be able to bounce a signal. It depends on what's blocking LOS. I don't think high power transmissions are allowed on these frequencies.

When talking about a yagi data link........I naturally assume stationary links. And I have no idea if it's of a commercial or hobbyist purpose.

If you are in the states........by passing a 35 multiple choice test.......you can get full amateur privileges above 30 MHz. And even restricted privileges on HF. NO CODE TEST.

This gives you many options.......for many situations.
